Fray Chassis

The road ends, but you want to keep going. That’s exactly why ENVE developed the Fray. It sits between the Melee – ENVE’s thoroughbred road bike – and the MOG gravel bike, filling the gap that many of us have long felt: a bike that’s fast on tarmac, doesn’t get skittish on gravel, and still looks and rides like a performance road bike. The geometry is optimised for tyres between 31 and 35 mm, but the Fray can also handle 40 mm if the route demands it. That means: a club ride on Saturday, gravel sections on Sunday – on the same bike. ENVE calls it All-Road; you can call it Endurance. The point is: it works. Technically, the frame features ENVE’s Material Optimized Design (M.O.D.) – a mix of medium-, high- and super-high-modulus carbon fibres, tailored for stiffness, compliance or impact resistance depending on the zone. 900 grams in size 56, painted, without hardware. The tube profiles were developed in the wind tunnel and using CFD, tailored to ENVE’s own SES rim profiles. So aero isn’t an end in itself, but part of a system. Added to this is the Cargo Bay: an integrated storage compartment in the down tube that, with two neoprene pouches, offers around 0.6 litres of space – enough for a inner tube, tools or a windbreaker. No rattling, no fiddling, no compromises on aesthetics. And the IN-Route system routes cables and hoses invisibly through the handlebars, stem and headset. Clean, quiet, aerodynamic. A T47 bottom bracket, flat-mount disc brakes, 12 mm thru-axles, UDH compatibility and mudguard eyelets round off the package. The Fray is sold as a chassis: frame, fork, headset, stem, handlebars and seatpost. You choose the handlebar width, stem length and seatpost offset yourself.
