STATE-OF-THE-ART 3D MOTION CAPTURING FOR OPTIMAL MOTION ANALYSIS
Motion capturing has its origins in the development of computer games in order to depict motion sequences as realistically as possible. SST Systems has transferred this expertise to the motion analysis of athletes and offers algorithms for golf, running and cycling. Due to the comparatively high costs and the time-consuming training required, it has so far mainly been used in the medical field. Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, we have opted for it. It offers the most accurate data and therefore the best basis for setting up a bike ideally,
It allows us to view the driver from any position and capture data with an accuracy of 0.5mm. And all this at 100 frames per second. This is made possible by 6 simultaneously recording, high-resolution cameras.
Compared to other bike fitting systems, including the market leader, this one is much more accurate and better. Above all, it allows us to view the rider not just from one side (as with the competition), but as a whole, thus optimizing stability on the bike. The accuracy is also many times higher (100 frames/sec compared to the usual18, six high-resolution cameras compared to two standard cameras and therefore more accurate measurements in the sub-millimeter range).
This system enables our bike fitter Josh to analyse the movement patterns of each cyclist in detail in real time, measure all relevant body angles and thus optimize the position on the bike.
Together with the saddle pressure measurement from gebiomized and soon our system for optimizing the aero position for triathlon or time trial riders, we now have the best tools in use.
