Avail Advanced ist Livs Antwort auf eine einfache Frage: Wie fährst du 150 Kilometer und hast am Ende noch Lust auf mehr? Der Avail ist die Endurance-Plattform der Marke, gebaut für Gran Fondos, lange Anstiege und Schotterabschnitte, die auf der Karte nie so schlimm aussahen. Rahmen und Gabel bestehen aus Advanced-Grade-Composite: leichtes Carbon, das im Antritt steif bleibt und dich trotzdem nicht zermürbt.
Das Geheimnis heißt D-Fuse. Lenker und Sattelstütze haben ein D-förmiges Profil, das Vibrationen dämpft, bevor sie in Händen, Nacken und Rücken ankommen. Dazu rollt das Rad ab Werk auf 32 mm breiten Tubeless-Reifen und hat Platz für noch mehr Volumen. Rauer Asphalt im (Wiener)Wald oder ein Stück Schotter dazwischen? Kein Drama.
Bei der Gruppe hast du die Wahl. Ultegra Di2 und 105 Di2 schalten elektronisch, ohne Gefummel und mit einem Fingertipp. Die 105 bleibt mechanisch, bremst aber genauso hydraulisch. Vorne zählst du 34/50 Zähne, hinten arbeitet je nach Gruppe eine 11-34- oder 11-36-Kassette. Für steile Rampen bleibt genug Reserve. Die beiden Di2-Varianten rollen auf Giant SLR 2 40 Carbon-Laufrädern, die 105 auf soliden Alu-Laufrädern.
Unsere Einschätzung: Endurance klingt oft nach gemütlich. Dieses Rad meint etwas anderes: schnell sein und am Abend trotzdem noch Lust auf die nächste Runde haben. Wir greifen zur 105 Di2. Elektronisch schalten, ohne dass die Rechnung länger wird als die Strecke.
