The gears were from Campagnolo, the shifters on the down tube, more than 21 teeth on the sprocket were frowned upon. The tubeset was from Columbus, the frame from Colnago, the wheels filigree, the tires razor-sharp. His muscles - like the frame - were made of steel.

We're talking about Jan Raas, the classics specialist, still top 4 today when it comes to victories in these very races. He was known for his glasses with metal frames.

For Alba Optics - as for us - he is a style icon.

With the FERRO, Alba Optics honors this hero of the 70s of the last century. With glasses that are technically state-of-the-art, the frame weighs just 19 grams. Category 3 lenses (8-18% light transmission) provide reliable protection against UV radiation and glare from the sun. And the frame is adorned with a rainbow symbol, reminiscent of Jan Raas' sprint victory over Didi Thurau at the 1979 World Championships in Valkenburg.

Each pair of glasses comes in a black box with a brown vegan leather case and a microfiber cloth.
