It was not long ago that many laughed at the Gravel Bike segment. At first, perhaps rightly so. But then came bike packing, the outdoor trend became bigger and bigger. And bikes should work on the road as well as off. In increasingly difficult terrain. And here we are at the EXPLORO Ultra, namely the heavier terrain!

The bike is designed for really fat tires! Preferably it has 650b with 55mm - 61mm wide tires. (But it also fits 700c wheels - although you should then perhaps consider the RaceMax) So even without suspension fork rough gravel roads and even many root paths lose their terror.

Terrain that you find on expedition tours in the Alps as in Iceland, but also at the end of the day in the Vienna Hausberge. So that you can get well, in this terrain, the upper part of the down tube was made 6cm wide, which improves the aerodynamics compared to a mountain bike significantly, but it makes the front wheel and frame to an aerodynamic unit. In the lower area, the down tube is even 75mm wide and shields the water bottle pefekt from the wind. Yes, the EXLORO is also as Ultra an aero-gravel bike. That also proved theCutout at the seat tube and the small distance from the front wheel to the down tube. Turbulent travel yes, but no air turbulence, that promises the EXPLORO Ultra.

For this purpose, the fork was also revised for the wheel, the crown reduced to a minimum - it no longer has to accommodate rim brakes. This improves the stiffness, the weight, and again the aerodynamics. It also makes the fork 25mm shorter than other gravel bikes, exactly the same length as road bike forks. This improves handling significantly, especially in difficult terrain.

Then both chainstays have also been lowered, making the bottom bracket area stiffer. The frame and fork have mudguard mounts. And the seatpost is round. That means it can also be swapped for a dropper post. What is becoming increasingly popular even in road cycling, thanks to Mr. Mohoric, is often indispensable off-road.

Many will also laugh about this bike again. Until they have ridden it for the first time.
